Plan your Valentine's Day
Make your Valentines day extra special by thinking ahead and planning the entire day. You don't need to take time off of work, or
spend a lot of money to make a special day. The saying "it's the thought that counts" is only normally acceptable if the thought is
big enough to begin with. Try some or all of the following things and have fun!
Breakfast in bed - put red paper on the tray, hang a red curled piece of paper from a glass, serve pink grapefruit juice or tomato juice, red tea, put a couple of drops of food colouring in the milk to turn the milk pink for the tea, coffee or cereals, serve toast in the shape of a heart. Give your partner their Valentines card.
Make your partners packed lunch - make heart shaped sandwiches and fill with pink salmon or something of similar colour, make a cold rice dish and add food colouring to turn it pink, buy some Smarties and make up a box of red ones only, include a red heart shaped serviette (possibly with a secret message hidden inside)
Make the evening special - Get a take away or cook something nice, decorate the food with a red bow or a red heart, use candles instead of electric lights for lighting, give your Valentine their Valentines present or flowers, have a film (a romance or romantic comedy "romcom") ready to avoid watching the same old TV as you do every night, have a pack of cards or a game to hand so you don't just sit in front of the TV all evening without interacting, have rose wine or cava or champagne, decorate the glasses with some red ribbon.
Before bed - make the bedroom comfortable and warm, hide a present under the cover (e.g. night clothes, underwear, jewellery), put some quiet music on in the background, ONLY throw petals and things all over the room if YOU are going to clear it up afterwards!
15th February, the day after Valentine's day - make sure your Valentine knows they are not just your Valentine for the day of 14th February by giving them a flower you held back the day before or by putting another note in their packed lunch box reminding them that they are special even after Valentines day.
Other extras that you could do to surprise your valentine are:-
- Change the screen saver on your partner's computer to have a Valentines message
- Change the background on your partner's computer to be Valentines related
- Put a fluffy pink toy in their briefcase or pencil in their pencil case
- Put some Valentines chocolates in their coat pocket that they will find on their way to work
- Have flowers or a rose delivered to your boyfriend or girlfriend's work
